Dermatitis

Pruritus is associated with ill-defined erythema, scale, and possibly excoriations from an irritant or allergic cause.

Dermographism

Pruritus is elicited by friction from clothing, with examination revealing linear wheals upon stroking the skin.

Lichen planus

Severe pruritus is associated with violaceous papules, while intense pain (vulvodynia) characterizes the erosive form.

Lichen sclerosus

Intense, intractable pruritus, especially at night, is the hallmark symptom, associated with white, atrophic plaques and scarring.

Mucous membrane pemphigus

Pruritus is less prominent than the severe pain and burning associated with chronic, scarring erosions.

Psoriasis

Pruritus is associated with well-demarcated, bright red, non-scaly plaques in the intertriginous folds.
