Coping With Comments and Stares
Living with a visible skin condition like rosacea can be emotionally challenging. Unsolicited comments, questions, or even just stares from strangers can be hurtful and erode self-confidence.
How to deal with social and workplace reactions
It can be helpful to have a few brief, prepared responses ready. For a simple question like "What's wrong with your face?", a calm and factual reply such as, "I have a common skin condition called rosacea, it causes redness," is often enough to satisfy curiosity and close the conversation. You do not owe anyone a detailed explanation of your medical history. For persistent or rude comments, it is perfectly acceptable to say, "I'd rather not discuss my skin, thank you," and change the subject or walk away.
