Makeup Tips for Rosacea-Prone Skin
Makeup can be a fantastic tool for boosting confidence and evening out skin tone for those with rosacea. The key is to choose the right products and techniques to provide coverage without causing irritation or triggering a flare-up.
Best primers, foundations and techniques
- Primers: A green-tinted primer or moisturiser can be useful for reducing the appearance of redness.
- Foundation: Look for mineral-based powder foundations or liquid formulas designed for sensitive skin. These are less likely to cause a flare of rosacea.
Avoiding irritation and clogged pores
Always choose products that are labelled non-comedogenic and fragrance-free. It's crucial to remove all makeup thoroughly but gently at the end of the day.
How can I help
I see patients in person in central London. An in person consultation allows me to examine the skin directly including features that are difficult to capture in a photograph such as 3-dimensional changes and textural change. This is the better option where the diagnosis is uncertain, where previous treatment has not been effective, or where a procedure is being considered. For more straightforward conditions such as acne and rosacea a remote consultation with clear photographs can be a good option.
